If you are considering adoption in Oklahoma, you deserve accurate information — and a lawyer, not a blog post, for anything that has to be right in court.
Eden is not an adoption agency. We do not place children, and we do not take consent. We can talk with you about parenting, abortion (as information only — we do not perform or refer), and adoption as options, then point you toward people whose job is the legal work.
A few Oklahoma facts, in plain language
This is a sketch of the Oklahoma Adoption Code as commonly summarized by public legal sources. Laws change. Your facts may not match a summary.
- A mother generally cannot give a valid consent to adoption before the child is born.
- Once a consent or permanent relinquishment is executed as the statute requires, it is generally irrevocable, with narrow exceptions (for example, certain showings of fraud or duress, or other limited grounds a court would have to find — including that setting it aside is in the child’s best interests).
- An extrajudicial consent (before a notary, in the situations the statute allows) can have a short revocation window — public summaries often cite 15 calendar days. That is exactly the kind of detail to confirm with an attorney the same week, not from memory.
- Fathers’ rights and whose consent is required depend on paternity and the case. Do not assume.
Read the state’s own materials, including the Child Welfare Information Gateway overview of Oklahoma consent to adoption, and speak with a licensed Oklahoma attorney or a licensed child-placing agency.
What a visit here is for
Confirm the pregnancy. Take the time you need. Ask the questions that feel too large for a search bar. Request an appointment. We will not hurry you into a plan, and we will not pretend we can complete an adoption in this building.
