Finding out you are pregnant in college can be overwhelming — especially when you are not sure how to tell the person you are with.

You already have a longer note on this site about talking with him. This one is for the campus version: dorms, group chats, a class in twenty minutes, and the fear that the first reaction will be the last word.

You get to choose the room

You do not owe him the news in a hallway. You do not owe it before you have confirmed it, if you want facts first. You do not owe it at all if you are unsafe. If the relationship scares you, skip the talk until you have a plan for your own protection. We can help you think that through privately.

If you are going to tell him: pick a time when neither of you is walking into an exam. Lead with the fact, then the feeling. You are allowed not to know what you want yet. You are allowed to ask him to listen before he solves.

After the first reaction

He may rise to it. He may go quiet. He may make it about himself. Give the first weather a little air, then come back to what you need this week: a ride, a second appointment, a week without pressure.
